Eric Paul Shaffer

Eric Paul Shaffer is the author of five books of poetry, including Lahaina Noon (2005), Living at the Monastery, Working in the Kitchen (2001), and Portable Planet (2000). Road Sign Suite: Across America and Again (2007) and Restoring Lady Liberty (2009) are both recent chapbooks. His poems appear in Slate, North American Review, Ploughshares, and Threepenny Review; Australia’s Cordite, Going Down Swinging, Island, and Quadrant; Canada’s Antigonish Review, CV2, Dalhousie Review, Event, and Fiddlehead; Ireland’s Poetry Ireland Review and Southword Journal; England’s Iota, Magma, Prole, and Stand Magazine; and New Zealand’s Poetry NZ and Takahe. He received the 2002 Elliot Cades Award for Literature, an endowed literary prize given yearly to an established local writer in Hawai’i; a 2006 Ka Palapala Po’okela Book Award for the book Lahaina Noon; and the 2009 James M. Vaughan Award for Poetry.
