circling blue flame
by Victor Pearn

there are so many runners
so many boulder mountain trails

someone I feel into the light
welcomes me back

now from the east
a chill wind
blows in gimbals
of circling blue flame

and my friend is laughing
as if he had always been living

and from a distance I wonder
if moose ran along this trail
