trapped on an airplane
caroms skull to hat,
tail wing to cockpit
during its short
three hundred mile
flight and just this once
people laugh, cup
its flossy body,
let it light and pass
on towards 32A, 16B.
See the reluctance
to crush the novelty
of flight within flight
so that we fragile allies
arrive safely at the gate
