A new grant to subsidize the CPR book award entry fee is now available. In order to allow entrants time to apply, we have extended the deadline for submissions to the 2017 Cider Press Review Editors’ Prize through Saturday, July 8th.
As part of our effort to open our submission process to more–and more diverse–authors, Cider Press Review will be awarding a limited number of stipend grants to help writers in need meet the entry fee requirement.
CPR will be offering grants to cover 50% of the $26 book award entry fee, bringing the direct cost to the author down to $13. The grants are intended for writers who otherwise would not be able to enter a competitive manuscript.
Grant applications will be evaluated by CPR junior editors who are not involved with the Editors’ Prize contest selection process. In order to insure fairness, editors Ruth Foley and Caron Andregg will not be part of the grant selection process.
HOW TO APPLY:
Upload one (1) document containing the following three items:
- Request Letter – 250 word max, 3 paragraphs
- Writing sample – 20 lines max, not more than 1 page
- List of Acknowledgements / Previous Publications
Please upload one (1) document via our Submission Manager selecting the genre [grant_application]. We cannot accept applications via email or postal mail.
Decisions on entry fee grants will be made by mid- July, 2017. Award recipients will be notified via email through the submission manager.
If you are entering the book award AND applying for a grant, please upload your manuscript by the contest deadline. Adjusted entry fees can be paid after the deadline when a grant determination is made.
