And when it’s all over and done with
I assign my lovers a
reincarnation
A black bear loping through
a damp forest
stopping to mark trees
with its teeth
A man o’ war
electric and insentient
waiting to be swept out
into open waters
A thorn bush a bramble
semi-deciduous
but always perennial
to the poet
some will lurch
some will flower
some will hurt more than others
some will have hands born
free of the memory of touch
But I will rise again
and again
a more redundant and less holy
Lazarus
naked and slaking
for another taste of God
