Elizabeth C. Garcia reads from Resurrected Body, the winner of the Cider Press Review Editors’ Prize, published in August 2024.
Mario Chard writes: "How high motherhood ranks among the muses poets keep returning to matters little to the challenge poets face: how to make it new? Sing, as Elizabeth Garcia does, from the mouth of mothers who have become ‘an archive, / evidence of all the bodies [they have] given / and received.’ This is astounding work."
Jo Brachman reads from Prayers to a Small Stone, winner of the 2023 CPR Book Award and newly released in January, 2025.
Frank X. Gaspar writes: "Jo Brachman’s collection is wonderfully titled, and its poems know no boundaries, no maps, no roads, no signposts, and talk in a dream tongue that bears no translation. What stands out here is that Brachman is a poet who understands that familiar modes of navigation are useful but not necessarily enough. Prayers, indeed. To a small stone? Yes. And this reader would add, prayer to something far more, and perhaps, except for the art of poetry, unsayable."
