Despy Boutris

Telescope of My Heart
by Despy Boutris

She reaches out
for a curl, wraps it
around her finger.
Tell me why
you like Galileo
so much,
& I look
up, almost see stars
flickering in her
night-dark eyes.
I tell her
how I understand
his desire
to see something
beautiful more
closely, burrow
my face
in her freckled
neck.
